Bad Axe Throwing Opening In Matawan This Fall
An axe-throwing BYOB business is moving into what used to be a Chinese restaurant and real estate office at Park Plaza Mall on Hwy. 34.
MATAWAN, NJ — A Bad Axe Throwing location will be opening up on Highway 34 in Matawan this fall.
That's right, this is an axe-throwing BYOB business. They'll be located in the Park Plaza Mall at 343-351 Hwy. 34 in Matawan, moving into what used to be a Chinese restaurant and real estate office. They are aiming for a November opening.
Bad Axe Throwing was founded in Canada in 2014. The company is rapidly expanding in the U.S., and most of their nearly 40 other U.S. locations sell wine, beer and malt beverages, along with providing the axes and tomahawks.

However, their Matawan location was not yet able to secure a liquor license, so for now the Rt. 34 business will be BYOB. Patrons are invited to bring their own booze and try their hand at axe throwing, in what the company says will be a safe and secure environment.
"We will be starting off as BYOB and we hope to eventually get our liquor license," said a Bad Axe Throwing spokeswoman. "It's 100 percent safe and we train our staff thoroughly to ensure everyone drinks and throws responsibly."

They will have axe-throwing coaches on staff and the Matwan location hopes to host axe-throwing leagues there in the future. The location will not serve food.
