Here are the most important dates for the 2021-22 school year for Matawan-Aberdeen Regional:

MATAWAN-ABERDEEN, NJ — Back-to-school planning has already begun in New Jersey, and here is the school calendar for the upcoming 2021-22 MARSD academic year.

The first day for Matawan-Aberdeen Regional public schools is Sept. 9.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point.

Gov. Murphy already said school must be in person this fall, but has yet to announce whether New Jersey students and teachers will be required to wear masks.

Here is the list of 2021-22 dates to know for Matawan-Aberdeen Regional:

First Day: Sept. 9

Sept. 16: Off for Yom Kippur

Oct. 11: Off for staff in-service day

Nov. 4-5: Off for NJEA Convention (teachers' union convention)

Nov. 24-26: Early dismissal and off for Thanksgiving break

Dec. 23 - 31: Early dismissal and off for winter break

Jan. 3: Winter recess, students back from winter recess Jan. 4

Jan. 17: MLK Day

Feb. 18 - 21: Off for Presidents' Day weekend

April 15- 22: Off for Spring Break

May 27: Early dismissal

May 30: Off for Memorial Day

June 20: Off for Juneteenth

June 24: Tentative last day of school
