Using their cellphones, residents are invited to walk to the shoreline in both towns to light up the skyline at 8:46 p.m. in honor of lives lost.

Aberdeen is telling people to go to Cliffwood Beach or at the adjoining Cliffwood Beach seawall walkway to participate.

Residents of Matawan and Marlboro are also asked to gather at Aberdeen’s two shoreline sites in Cliffwood Beach.

"Light Up The Shore" is being held in all 53 Monmouth County towns at 8:46 p.m. this Saturday. The idea is to have thousands and thousands of lights twinkling from the shoreline to show that New Jersey will never forget what happened that day twenty years ago.
