Boy Scout Troop 66 celebrates a Triple Eagle Court of Honor

Boy Scout Troop 66 hosts an Eagle Court of Honor for 3 Eagles!

On Wednesday January 9, 2019 Troop 66 celebrated the first Triple Eagle Court of Honor for 3 of our scouts who had earned the rank of Eagle before going off to college. Since the boys were all home on winter break the Troop decided to host the Court of Honor at one of the regular troop meetings so all the scouts could attend. Troop 66 has had the honor to celebrate 156 Scouts who have achieved the rank of Eagle in the last 60 years and these 3 young men proudly joined the Brotherhood of Eagle Scouts as they stood beneath the Eagle Arch to receive their medals, a long time honored tradition in Troop 66. As seen in the picture, we had a whopping 17 Eagles on hand to listen as the Scouts were read their Eagle charge.

Eagle number 148, Mahmoud K.-E. earned his Eagle on December 13, 2017. For his eagle project, Mahmoud had 5 bat houses built for Manasquan Reservoir Park and 6 bird houses built for placement in the parks in the Matawan area. These new bat houses will help re-establish a thriving bat population in the park, which in turn will help control pest insects and mosquitos. Mahmoud is currently attending The Cooper Union in New York City to complete a degree in civil engineering. He plans on completing his master’s degree as well and working in NYC as a civil engineer.

Our 150th Eagle is Sean S. Sean earned his Eagle on January 31, 2018. For his eagle project, Sean had improvements made to an existing monument honoring Molly Pitcher in Monmouth Battlefield Park. Brush and debris were removed and a paved walkway around the monument was installed to make it more accessible to visitors as well as landscaping the immediate area. Sean is a freshman at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA where he is studying computer science.

David B. is our 152nd Eagle and he earned his medal on May 9, 2018. David’s eagle project consisted of improvements to the backyard of the Burroughs Mansion by removing small field stones, enlarging the area, removing soil/grass and grading the area with stone and rock. This work enabled the Matawan Historical Society to better utilize the backyard for outdoor events. David is attending Towson University in Maryland and is studying computer science.

This triple Eagle Court of Honor was quite a success and the scouts and family members enjoyed seeing the new Eagles receive their award. Troop 66 wishes the young men continued success and good luck in college.
