Troop 66 of Aberdeen-Matawan has reached an important milestone in Scouting by recently celebrating their 151st Scout achieving the rank of Eagle. Let’s meet some recent Eagles!
Robert Kee IV is #145, a senior at Matawan Regional HS. Bobby’s Eagle Scout Project was building garden boxes and repairing a fence for St. Clement Church last summer. Bobby also donated pallets and pots so the church can grow potatoes. In addition to Scouts, Bobby is part of the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Woodworking Club at HS. He will be studying Engineering in college after graduation.
Zachary Grillo is #146, also a senior at Matawan Regional HS. Zach’s project was to build a brick barbecue on a cement pad with a PVC fence at the Morganville United Methodist Church. He completed this project over 2 weekends with help from his friends and Scouts. Zach is on the school bowling and baseball teams and will be attending Brookdale after graduation.

Kyle Mulvey is next on the list at #147. Kyle is a junior at Raritan HS in Hazlet. He raised $3000 through crowd sourcing/fundraising and purchased a storage container to be permanently set on a rock layer at Beers Street School. This container will be the storage facility for the RAINE Foundation and saves them $4,000 a year in storage fees. Besides Scouts, Kyle is on the football team and works as a lifeguard at summer camp.
Stephen Ciupinski is our 149th Eagle and he is a junior at St. John Vianney HS. Stephen’s Eagle Project was to restore the gravesite of American Revolution Poet Philip Freneau. Stephen removed plants, cleaned and fixed the monument and installed an erosion barrier, shrubs and a bench. In addition to Scouts, Stephen is in the math, computer and military support clubs at school. He hopes to attend Northeastern University after graduation.

Our most recent Eagle, #151, is Christopher Yin from Morganville. Christopher is a senior at High Technology HS and plans on attending the University of Pennsylvania to study computer science after graduation. His Eagle Project involved documenting headstone locations and names, as well as building an information & map kiosk, for the Cedarview Cemetery at St. Leo the Great Parish in Lincroft. In addition to Scouts, Christopher is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and is in the Robotics and Coding club, Student Council, VEX Robotics Team and is a yearbook editor at school.
Troop 66 was founded in 1957 in Matawan, NJ and provides an active year round outdoor program for boys in 5th grade and above. Scoutmaster Bob Shea has lead the Troop for over 30 years and, along with his Assistant Scoutmasters, reinforces the ideals put forth in the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Troop 66 gives back to the local community by conducting food drives, participating in civic events, volunteering at municipal events and completing Eagle projects to assist local organizations and clubs.
Troop 66 meets weekly on Wednesday evenings during the School year from 7:30-9:00pm at the Matawan United Methodist Church.
