Caring Weekend at Temple Shalom Open to the Community
Topic for the weekend is "Adolescent & Juvenile Mental Illness: Knowledge is Power"

Temple Shalom, 5 Ayrmont Lane, in Aberdeen, presents a Caring Weekend on November 21st and 23rd. The topic for the weekend is “Adolescent and Child Mental Illness: Knowledge is Power.” The weekend events are free and open to the community.
Dr. Steven Kairys, MD will be the featured speaker at Caring Weekend Shabbat services on Friday night. Dr. Kairys is Chairman of Pediatrics at Jersey Shore Medical Center and practices in pediatrics, pediatric and adolescent medicine and child abuse pediatrics. He will speak on the latest research in mental health and how to determine if your child needs help. Services begin at 8:15 pm.
On Sunday, November 23rd at 9:30 am, the Caring Committee will host a breakfast program. The program will consist of a panel of medical, mental health and social welfare professionals in a discussion of how parents and other family members can identify and deal with serious behavioral and mental health issues in children and adolescents. Information about available local mental health and social services for parents will also be presented.
