SAYREVILLE, NJ — The new Bass Pro Shop off the Garden State Parkway in Sayreville will open this spring, according to a new report on MyCentralJersey.com.
This is the Bass Pro Shop currently under construction in the Riverton development off the Parkway. Bass Pro Shop, a hunting and fishing store, is an anchor tenant; a QuickChek and a Starbucks are also confirmed to open there. Sayreville town hall may also relocate to Riverton, Sayreville Mayor Kennedy O'Brien said last year.
The only other Bass Pro Shop in New Jersey is in Atlantic City.

Riverton is the massive redevelopment project being built at the Sayreville exit off the Driscoll Bridge on the Parkway (the former National Lead site, 1000 Chevalier Avenue). Riverton will take up 418 acres of what is currently marshland. It will be a complex of 1,300 luxury waterfront apartments and townhomes, all built around a central green, right at the mouth of the Raritan River. A signature feature of Riverton will be its 200-slip marina, presumably for motorboats and sailboats owned by the residents.
Construction started on Riverton last January. Riverton will have:

- 1,300 residential housing units, either apartments or townhouses. As part of a stipulation for giving Riverton a $400-million tax break, the state of New Jersey said 20 percent of those must be affordable housing.
- Parks, nature trails and a waterfront boardwalk, all open to the public.
- A 200-slip boat marina
- Waterfront dining and shops
- Spaces for offices and tech, plus space for the town of Sayreville to move its town offices into.
- Possibly a 440-room hotel
The developers of Riverton are Cincinnati-based North American Properties, working with PGIM Real Estate, the global investment arm of Prudential bank. They said two years ago Riverton could not be built without "critical" financing from the state. In 2023, the state of NJ gave Riverton tax breaks of up to 50 percent of project's costs, up to $400 million total.
Riverton got the tax breaks under the state's Aspire Program, which is meant to increase affordable housing in New Jersey.
