The Community YMCA's Bayshore Family Success Center Finds New Home

The Bayshore Family Success Center has found a new home at the Henry Hudson Trail Activity Center, 945 State Highway 36, Leonardo. The center is a community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering place where any Bayshore community resident can go for family support, information and services.

The center was opened in June, 2013 at the Union Beach Memorial Library to assist residents in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, and has been instrumental in helping families receive support in dealing with the stress of the storm, parenting and everyday issues. Serving the towns of Atlantic Highlands, Belford, Highlands, Keansburg, Keyport, Leonardo and Union Beach, all services are free of charge.

Programs are offered at the center and Outreach sites in Keyport, Keansburg, Union Beach and Atlantic Highlands. Seminars on financial literacy, resume help, SNAP assistance and renters insurance are available, as well as family activities such as monthly movie matinees, bingo nights, toddler teas, holiday dances and family crafts. The center has held two resource fairs, one for summer activities and one for Sandy survivors.

“The Bayshore Family Success has really become the ‘go-to’ place for families to get help with a variety of issues,” said Darcy Dobens, the center’s Director. “We have become a real presence for those who live in the Bayshore area, a place where anybody can come in for help, or just a place to feel welcome,” she added.

The center is operated by The Community YMCA and funded by the New Jersey Division of Family and Community Partnerships.

Monday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Tuesday: 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wednesday: 12 - 5 p.m.;
Thursday: 11 a.m. - 7p.m.; Friday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Saturday: By appointment only.
