The Community YMCA's Bayshore Family Success Center to Host Open House November 20

Located in Leonardo on Rt. 36, the Open House will be Thursday, November 20 from 4-7 p.m., with a ribbon "tying" ceremony at 5 p.m.

The Bayshore Family Success Center, now located at the Henry Hudson Trail Activity Center, 945 State Highway 36, Leonardo, is hosting an Open House Thursday, November 20 from 4-7 p.m., with a ribbon “tying” ceremony at 5 p.m.

“We are truly excited to welcome families to our new location in the heart of the Bayshore area and to symbolically tie ourselves to a new community,” said Rhonda Anderson, President and CEO of The Community YMCA. “The center is one of eight facilities the Y operates in Monmouth County to meet the diverse needs of families and to help strengthen our community.”

The state-funded center is a community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering place where any local resident can go for family support and helpful resources such as financial literacy and job readiness programs, support groups, health education workshops and family fun nights, all free of charge.

The center first opened in June, 2013 at the Union Beach Memorial Library to assist residents in the wake of Superstorm Sandy. Approximately 200 individuals impacted by the storm have been connected to support services, while overall, the center has served over 2,000 people in the Bayshore community.

On Monday, October 27, New Jersey Department of Children and Families Commissioner Allison Blake and Monmouth County Freeholder John P. Curley helped mark the 2nd anniversary of Superstorm Sandy by visiting the center and meeting with Bayshore families, many of whom are still struggling from the devastation of the storm.
