A MRHS Art Department & Parents of Special People, Inc. Joint Fundraiser

The Matawan Regional High School Art Department has been collecting new and gently used chairs, benches and stools for a joint fundraiser with Parents of Special People, Inc., a special needs charity located in Matawan/Aberdeen. Each school in the district, as well as all MARSD clubs, teams, organizations and any community members and organizations that would like to participate, are invited to design and paint a chair to be auctioned off at Matawan Regional High School on Thursday, May 11, 2017.

Spearheaded by art teacher Emilly Hueston, who heads up a similar charity project, “Empty Bowls” for the
Monmouth Food Bank, this fundraiser will build upon the themes of PoSP's Annual Personal Best Week held in May: Inclusion, Friendship and Community. The MARSD art teachers through out the district have always been extremely supportive of PoSP. The Executive Board and Membership of PoSP are thrilled to help support them in return.

Over 30 chairs were donated and 20 have been collected by various groups to begin the decorating process for the auction. Any minor repairs that needed to be done were completed by the MRHS Woodworking Club. Paint for each chair has been supplied by PoSP. Informational kits with all deadlines, brainstorming
ideas, color mixing charts and helpful hints will be supplied when you pick up your paint and chair at MRHS. Updates on how the event is progressing can be found on our blog MRHS Seat At The Table mrhsseatatthetable.blogspot.com

Please contact Ms. Hueston at ehueston@marsd.org if you or your organization would like to help promote the themes of friendship, community and inclusion within our communities of Matawan, Aberdeen, Cliffwood and Cliffwood Beach and decorate a chair for our auction on May 11, 2017 at Matawan
Regional High School.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the MRHS Art Department and Parents of Special People, Inc., a 501
c 3 charity that benefits the special needs community and serves as the Special Education Parent Advisory Group for the Matawan Aberdeen Regional School District.
