Keansburg Woman, 35, Killed By Car On Hwy. 35, Prosecutor Says

Christine Bowles, 35, was hit and killed on Rt. 35 in the Cliffwood/Keyport section of Aberdeen Twp. in Monmouth County Thursday night.

ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Keansburg woman was hit and killed on Rt. 35 in the Cliffwood/Keyport section of Aberdeen Twp. in Monmouth County Thursday night, a spokesman for Monmouth County Prosecutor Chris Gramiccioni confirmed.

Christine Bowles, 35, of Keansburg, was hit by the car at approximately 6:33 p.m. on Hwy. 35 near the Goodwill store in Cliffwood. She was taken to Bayshore Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 7:02 p.m.

Police believe she was attempting to cross the roadway when she was hit.

Prosecutor Gramiccioni said that Daniel Harning, 84, of Parlin, was driving a 2016 Kia Cadenza southbound on Rt. 35 approaching Cliffwood Avenue when his car collided with Bowles.

The accident happened near the NJ Transit bus stop there, at the intersection of Hwy. 35 and Cliffwood Avenue. A young woman who works behind the counter at the Wawa in that area said she noticed "police cars with lights and sirens just streaming past, and an ambulance pulled into our parking lot," Thursday evening.

She said the intersection of Rt. 35 and Cliffwood Avenue was shut down for the next four hours, from 6:30 p.m. until well past 10 p.m.

Harning and a passenger did not sustain any injuries during the collision.

No motor vehicle summonses were issued pending investigation.

The county prosecutor's office responded and is investigating.
