MATAWAN-ABERDEEN, NJ — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on in and around Matawan-Aberdeen for 2023.

We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Matawan-Aberdeen so you can start planning now.

Aberdeen's Independence Day celebration will be Saturday, July 1 this year. As it is every year, the celebration will go from 5-9 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on the Raritan Bay. The rain date is July 8.

Aberdeen Twp. says 2023 will be their biggest year yet: Live music will be provided by local band Str8 UP, who will play from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. The Veterans Park spray park will be open and the good times will be rolling.

There will be: Bounce houses, Marvel superheroes, a DJ before and after the live band and three face painters. The beautiful Veterans Memorial Park spray park will be open until 8 p.m. for the little and big ones. The fireworks will go off at 9 p.m. when it gets dark.

However, NO dogs are allowed.

Ocean Boulevard will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 4 p.m. that day. Only handicap vehicles can access (from the Old Bridge side).

Shuttle buses will start leaving at 5 p.m. from the LA Fitness parking lot back and forth to the beach until the end of night. It is highly recommended to park at the LA Fitness parking lot as it will be much easier to park there and less crowded.

Cousins Maine Lobsters, Big John’s Gourmet Burgers, Debbie O’s Concessions, Aloha Tropical Bowls, Sweet Pepper Empanadas Express, Firehouse Dogs, Pie Oh My Wood Fired Pizza and Mr. Softee ice cream truck.
