Classes will meet on 6/4, 6/11, 6/18, and 6/25
Thursday, June 7 @ 11 am – Learn Tai Chi
Come and participate in this meditative form of exercise which is associated with both spiritual and health benefits. This monthly class will be taught by Al Chuderski. No prior experience is needed, just wear comfortable clothing.
Preference will be given to MAPL cardholders.
Sunday, June 10 @ 1 pm – While You Were Away: Love Songs of WWII
“Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me),” “You’ll Never Know,” “I’ll Walk Alone,” “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” “Catanooga Choo Choo,” “The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” and “I’ll Be Seeing You” are just some of the incomparable love songs that were exceptionally popular during World War II. Why were they so popular? Who wrote, played, and sang them? What made them unforgettable both on the fighting and home front? This concert/lecture with performer and professor, Dr. Diane Cypkin, delves into it all and reveals how the spirit of the time was uplifted by these songs.

Using original photographs and historic images, Kevin Woyce tells the story
of New York’s greatest skyscrapers, from the 1890 New York World building
to the Woolworth, Chrysler, and Empire State buildings. He will explain how
and why they were built, and introduce the architects and businessmen
whose visions shaped the world-famous skyline.
Thursday, June 14 @ 1:30 pm – Chair Yoga
Interested in learning yoga, but have difficulty getting down on the floor? Now you too can enjoy all the benefits of yoga without having to get on a mat. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation while seated in a chair. The class will be taught by Danielle Meany, RYT. All levels welcome. No experience or equipment is necessary.
Must be at least 18 years-old and a MAPL cardholder to participate.

Monday, June 18 @ 7 pm – Reducing Your Taxes & Tax Reform
Jonathan Barrett, Certified Financial Planner from AXA Advisors, will host a program focusing on the recent tax reform changes, social security planning and other financial topics. Get a better understanding of the tax code changes and how they will affect your income and lifestyle. Handouts will be provided and will highlight the major changes in the tax law as well as provide effective planning tips to reduce your taxes. There will plenty of time during and after the presentation to ask questions, so don't be shy! Jonathan has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry and attended both The Harvard and Wharton Schools of Business.

Monday, June 25 @ 7 pm – Matawan Aberdeen Critique Writing Group
Improve your writing with the Matawan Aberdeen Critique Group.
This group is for people who are serious about trying to get published. It’s a safe place where participants are able to give and receive constructive criticism on their writing. Participants should be prepared to read 3-5 pages of their own writing aloud to the group. No need to bring copies for the group.
Thursday, June 28 @ 11 am – Yoga Basics
This class is great for the beginner or experienced student as we give variations for all levels. Focusing on movement integrating breath, awareness, and alignment you will build strength, focus, flexibility, and balance for both mind and body. The class will be taught by Tula Yoga instructor, Jennifer Cavalieri. Please bring your own yoga mat or large towel.
Must be at least 18 years-old to participate.
Thursday, June 28 @ 7 pm – Dream Catchers – Craft for Adults
Do you want to make sure your dreams are good ones? Come to the library to learn about the stories behind Native American Dream Catchers. You will learn a bit about what each element of the dream catcher represents, and make one of your very own to take home.
