Thursday, November 1 @ 11 am – Learn Tai Chi
Come and participate in this meditative form of exercise which is associated with both spiritual and health benefits. This monthly class will be taught by Al Chuderski. No prior experience is needed, just wear comfortable clothing.
Participants must be at least 18 years-old and preference will be given to Matawan Aberdeen card holders.

Thursday, November 1, 8, 15, and 29 @ 7 pm – Beginners Spanish Conversation for Adults
This is a class for beginners. We will offer an intermediate level class in 2019.

Being able to speak Spanish is a better way to communicate when you travel and being bilingual can make you more competitive in the workplace. In this eight week program for native English speakers, you will have the opportunity to practice listening and speaking with a native Spanish speaker in a small group setting.
Participants should be able to commit to attending all classes.
Classes will meet on 11/1, 11/8, 11/15 and 11/29 (no class on 11/22).
Participants must be at least 18 years-old and preference will be given to MAPL card holders.

Monday, November 5 @ 7 pm – The Tehran Conference, November 1943: First Meeting of the Big Three
The Allies’ Tehran Conference, codenamed EUREKA, was held November 28 to December 1, 1943. It was the first meeting of the Big Three: British Prime Minister Winston Churchill; U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt; and Soviet Union Premier Joseph Stalin. At this critical meeting, key directions were decided upon which led the Allies to victory over Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. This presentation relates what the key decisions were, why they were made and their overall impact on the outcome of WWII. Speaker Paul Zigo is director of the World War II Era Studies Institute and a retired US Army Colonel.
Wednesday, November 7, 14, and 28 @ 10 am – Diabetes Self-Management Workshop
Take Control of Your Diabetes!
This program is designed to help people with pre-diabetes and existing diabetes as well as their relatives and caregivers gain a better understanding of diabetes self-care. Participants can expect to learn about diabetes and its risks, the role of diet and exercise, how to deal with pain and fatigue, managing medications, and much more.
This program is offered by Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network.
Thursday, November 8 @ 1:30 pm – Chair Yoga
Interested in learning yoga, but have difficulty getting down on the floor? Now you too can enjoy all the benefits of yoga without having to get on a mat. You will learn many yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation while seated in a chair. The class will be taught by Danielle Meany, RYT. All levels welcome. No experience or equipment is necessary.
Participants must be at least 18 years-old and preference will be given to Matawan Aberdeen card holders.
Sunday, November 11 @ 1 pm – The Vietnam War – A Series by Ken Burns, Episode 1
An immersive documentary film series directed by acclaimed filmmakers Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, tells the epic story of one of the most divisive, consequential and misunderstood events in American history, as it has never before been told on film.
Join us to watch the first episode, Déjà Vu (1858-1961). Vietnamese revolutionaries led by Ho Chi Minh end nearly a century of French colonial occupation. Vietnam is divided in two. Communists in the North aim to reunify the country, while America supports Diem’s untested regime in the South.
We'll watch this episode using our film streaming resource, Kanopy.

Sure you may know how to find out basic facts and directions using Google, but most people have barely scratched the surface of this powerful search engine. From advanced options that can filter and narrow your results, to an image search capable of locating duplicates of any picture and SafeSearch options can that be tailored to remove material you don’t want to see, Google can do so much more than you may realize and this discussion-style class will go over it all!
Friday, November 16 @ 7 pm – Raconteur Radio presents Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire (A staged parody)
Raconteur Radio will perform a *magical* parody of The Goblet of Fire. Join us to experience the story in a whole new way.
Raconteur Radio stages theatrical presentations of vintage radio plays, classic works of literature, and pop culture parodies for live audiences. They have been described by The Star Ledger as “one of the 7 best things to do in New Jersey.”
This presentation is recommended for patrons ages 8 and older.
Monday, November 19 @ 7 pm – The Buzz Around Competitive Video Games
Have you ever wondered about the appeal of competitive video games? Do you want to know more about the craze that is consuming kids? Competitive video games is an extremely fast growing industry with a market value of close to $1 billion. The industry is projected to hit viewership numbers that will rival the likes of professional baseball, soccer, and hockey thanks to the help of titles such as Fortnite. This discussion based class will help you to learn what the industry is, why it is so big, and anything else you may want to know about it.
Monday, November 26 @ 7 pm – Yoga Basics
This class is great for the beginner or experienced student as we give variations for all levels. Focusing on movement integrating breath, awareness, and alignment you will build strength, focus, flexibility, and balance for both mind and body. The class will be taught by yoga instructor, Carrie Palamara. Please bring your own yoga mat or large towel.
Must be at least 18 years-old to participate.
Thursday, November 29 @ 7 pm – Paint a Wine Glass
Come paint a wine glass for yourself or as a gift. We will provide small templates to paint designs with acrylic gloss. Do a monogram, a small image or improvise a little. Cure the glasses at home (we will tell you how) to keep the color safe.
Participants must be at least 18 years-old and preference will be given to MAPL cardholders.
