FREE Balance and Falls Seminar @ ProForm Physical Therapy

The Centers for Disease Control and Injury Prevention reports that 1 in 3 adults age 65 and older fall each year.  Older adults are hospitalized for fall related injuries 5 times more often than they are from injuries from other causes.  The statistics demonstrate that women are most affected by falls.

A recent study in the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy examined predictors of falls in women with and without osteoporosis and found that that, "a greater percentage of women with postmenopausal osteoporosis has a history of 1 or more falls within the previous year and a higher risk of recurrent falls than women without osteoporosis."  The study also found that lower back muscle strength was associated with the risk of falls.

At ProForm Physical Therapy, we understand how important it is to prevent falls and offset the effects of osteoporosis on the the muscular and bone systems.  By providing core strengthening to our patients to improve lower back strength and providing Medical Exercise Therapy in specific positions we can help to improve bone density and prevent falls.  Research show that "axillary loading" or standing exercise with carefully selected resistance and range of motion can help to improve bone density.

On September 9th, as a part of our grand opening celebration, ProForm Physical Therapy will be conducting a FREE seminar on Osteoporosis and Falls Prevention for the elderly.  We have collaborated with the New Jersey Balance Center to provide Videonystamography (VNG) testing in order to accurately diagnose balance and vestibular disorder.  This cutting edge test is overseen by a Physician and can accurately diagnose the disorder, after which Physical Therapy treatment can successfully treat the condition.  Please RSVP by Sept 5th 732-970-7882 OR text keyword "proform" to 77453 and someone from our office will call you to confirm.  Registration will begin a 9am and the presentation will start at 10 am.

Address: 1212 Rt. 34, suite 24-25, Aberdeen, NJ 07747; across from Wyndham Rd.

We look forward to seeing you there!
