MAUDIE, based on a true story, is an unlikely romance in which the reclusive Everett Lewis () hires a fragile yet determined woman named Maudie) to be his housekeeper. Maudie, bright-eyed but hunched with crippled hands, yearns to be independent, to live away from her protective family and she also yearns, passionately, to create art. Unexpectedly, Everett finds himself falling in love. MAUDIE charts Everett's efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie's deep and abiding love for this difficult man and her surprising rise to fame as a folk painter.

Monday, December 11 – Joyeux Noel
In December 1914, an unofficial Christmas truce on the Western Front allows soldiers from opposing sides of the First World War to gain insight into each other's way of life. On Christmas Eve, numerous sections of the Western Front called an informal, and unauthorized, truce where the various front-line soldiers of the conflict peacefully met each other in No Man's Land to share a precious pause in the carnage with a fleeting brotherhood. This film dramatizes one such section as the French, Scottish and German sides partake in the unique event, even though they are aware that their superiors will not tolerate its occurrence.
Starring: Diane Kruger, Benno Fürmann
Release Year: 2005
Rating: PG-13 (for some war violence and a brief scene of sexuality/nudity)
Running Time: 116 Minutes
Language: French, German, English, Latin – SUBTITLED

For its 75th anniversary, we share a seasonal classic. Four friends have a musical act that is popular on the New York night club scene, but the friends are going their separate ways. Lovely Linda Mason has crooner Jim Hardy head over heels, but suave stepper Ted Hanover wants her for his new dance partner after femme fatale Lila Dixon gives him the brush. Jim is retiring to his family farm where he starts a supper club, Holiday Inn, which will only be open on holidays. It is the setting for the chase by Hanover and manager Danny Reed. The music's the thing. The timeless Irving Berlin tune White Christmas was introduced in this film.
