Joseph is a 16 year-old aspiring doctor who’s passionate about sports and science. He has been involved in multiple athletic activities including football, wrestling and track (2013 NJ State Champion). His inquisitive nature makes him a true innovator. He possesses a determination and courageous nature that is truly an inspiration to all of us. He is the definition of a true warrior.
On December 17th, 2013 Joseph was diagnosed with Stage IV Ewing’s Sarcoma – a rare and aggressive bone cancer that primarily affects children and adolescents – at which point he already had several growths attacking multiple parts of the body. At the start of his battle, we were seeing nearly instant results. He regained the weight he had lost due to the disease; his intense pain subsided; the tumors were rapidly shrinking; but most importantly, his spirits were high. Disappointingly, this peak was very short-lived. Not only has the unbearable pain since returned, but the disease has continued to spread with tumors close to the central nervous system and he is now at risk of becoming paralyzed if untreated.
Joseph has been surrounded by an immense amount of love and support from his family and friends nevertheless the sad reality is that this alone is not enough for him to make it through. We have found treatment options that show great promise but are unfortunately not covered by insurance. We're asking that anybody who is willing or able to please donate towards the cause, regardless of how small the contribution may seem.
