Get info Saturday on reopening your Sandy claim
West Long Branch meeting at 10 AM: Underpaid or denied? 'Nothing to lose'

An information session will be held Saturday (August 1) to explain how homeowners can reopen their flood insurance damage claims.
George Kasimos, who founded the national citizens advocacy group Stop FEMA Now, will urge Sandy victims to get their claims reviewed and reconsidered -- because “the National Flood Insurance Program has had so many problems.”
His organization will conduct a free meeting at 10 AM in the West Long Branch Community Center, 116 Locust Avenue.
“Those who were underpaid or denied by their insurance companies have nothing to lose by seeking additional funds,” Kasimos asserted. He will discuss what constitutes “substantially damaged” and the government’s threat of “claw-backs” of payments received.
“It’s been 33 months since Sandy, and too few homes have been restored,” he said. “Flood insurance has had no oversight by FEMA, and the RREM housing recovery program has been mismanaged by the state.
“Too many people in New Jersey are still suffering,” Kasimos contended. “Many are frustrated, angry and lost their patience long ago. Many are losing hope, losing their life savings and even losing their homes.
“Numerous Monmouth County property owners need this valuable information,” he concluded. “I hope each one will bring a friend or neighbor to the meeting on Saturday morning.”
