Get Ready For Aberdeen Day On Sept. 28
Three members of the 1969 Mets, plus former NY Giant "Pepper" Johnson and WWE stars Kevin Nash and Emma will be signing autographs that day.
ABERDEEN, NJ — Mayor Fred Tagliarini and the Aberdeen Township Council have announced an expanded schedule of events for Aberdeen Day 2019, which will be Saturday, Sept. 28.
The day-long celebration will feature events at Matawan Regional High School and additional locations around town.
The day will kick off with the “Cambridge Park 5K for Owen,” which raises money for the Cambridge Park Pre-K PTO in memory of Owen Taraskiewicz, a former Cambridge Park student. Registration begins at the Aberdeen-Matawan train station at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8:45 a.m. at lot 4 at the station.

There will also be a special celebrity athlete autograph signing in the school’s gym which will feature three members of the 1969 Championship New York Mets team (Ed Kranepool, Art Shamsky and Ron Swoboda), along with heavyweight champion Larry Holmes; former N.Y. Yankee Rick Cerone; former N.Y. Giant , two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL coach Thomas “Pepper” Johnson; and WWE stars Kevin Nash and Emma.
The festivities will continue throughout the morning, afternoon and evening at Matawan Regional High School on Atlantic Avenue and additional locations around town, including more special business-sponsored events than ever before at Route 34 shopping centers and other sites.

In the main event, from noon to 4 p.m., the high school site will feature a classic car show, rides and shows for children, crafts, food, vendor booths and informational displays by local non-profit organizations and more.
Special business-sponsored events — including entertainment, free food tastings and sidewalk sales — will take place at two shopping centers on Routes 34. At the Regency shopping center, DeMarco's Catering and Gourmet Deli will present free food and entertainment, while Stop & Shop and other tenants hold events of their own. At Aberdeen Town Square, Livoti's will present free food and games. Special customer appreciation promotions will also be offered by various other merchants around town throughout the day
Attendees won’t want to miss the Sand Volleyball Tournament at the Highline Arena (formerly Tab Ramos) on Blair Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or “Aberdeen’s Got Talent” starting at 3 p.m. at Aberdeen Town Square. The talent show will be held within the Court Jester’s Beer Garden, now in its second year. The event will feature food trucks, bounce houses and live music from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Aberdeen Day will additionally include Cross of Glory Lutheran Church’s 18th-annual Fall Yard Sale, Bake Sale & Snack Shack BBQ. Come check out the bargains, baked goodies and the burgers and dogs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The church is located at 95 Cambridge Drive. The church will also be accepting all donations, including clothing and furniture, on Friday, Sept. 27 from 7 - 9 p.m.
Whether you decide to take a tour of the new Aberdeen Senior Center on Church Street from 10 a.m. to noon, p.m., enjoy a display of vehicles from famous movies at Star Car Exhibits on Route 34 from noon to 5, or go to a screening of “Hocus Pocus” at Veterans Memorial Park in Cliffwood Beach at 7:30 p.m., Aberdeen Day certainly has something to offer for everyone.
Free trolley service will once again be provided between venues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Mayor Tagliarini is expecting to see not only thousands of Aberdeen residents, but many people from surrounding communities.
“Aberdeen Day is a chance to celebrate our great township and welcome visitors from all over,” Tagliarini said. “The celebration gets bigger and better each year as we add more activities and events. The attendance also increases, as this is the must-attend event in Monmouth County to kick-off the fall season. This is also a great day for our businesses and organizations to showcase what makes them so terrific.”
Aberdeen Day 2019 is being coordinated by The Aberdeen Recreation Department and the Aberdeen Economic Business Council in conjunction with Mayor Tagliarini and the township council.
