Holiday Performance of "Amahl and the Night Visitors"

The modern holiday opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” will be presented via The Performing Arts Series at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lincroft, NJ. “Amahl And the Night Visitors,” written by Gian Carlo Menotti, opens with a young child, Amahl, being captivated by an unusually large star hanging over their poor home. Later that evening Amahl and mother are surprised by 3 kings who come knocking at their door seeking rest for the night. The completely staged production can be seen on Saturday, December 13 at 7 pm and Sunday, December 14 at 6 pm. This family-friendly opera offers a wonderful holiday experience for all ages. Local children will star in the show: Clara Randel (left in photo), who lives in Aberdeen, will play Amahl on Sunday the 14th. Tara Lieneck, who lives in Middletown, will play the part of Amahl on Saturday the 13th.

“Amahl and the Night Visitors” is the second of a four-part series. January’s concert is Chamber Music of Debussy, Mozart and Bernstein will be featured with acclaimed musicians Joel DeWitt, violin, and Brian Gilmore, piano, on Sunday January 25 at 4:30 pm. April will welcome a Story Slam: Telling Our Stories. This event, performed in the manner of the Moth Radio Hour from Public Radio, will be on Sunday April 19 at 4:30 pm. A reception will follow all four concerts.

Standard prices are: Adults $25. Students/Seniors $15, and Children (under 12) $5. To buy individual tickets seven-days or more in advance, the prices are Adults $20. Students/Seniors $12, and Children (under 12) $5. The full series tickets for all four concerts tickets can be bought ahead: Adults $75. Students/Seniors $40, and Children (under 12) $20.
