Increased Police Presence At The Matawan-Aberdeen Train Station This Morning

Riders are reminded to report any suspicious activity to police

Commuters taking the train from the Matawan-Aberdeen train station will notice an increased police presence at the train station today, Aberdeen and Matawan police told Patch.

"We have increased patrols at the train station," Aberdeen Chief of Police, John. T. Powers, told Patch in an email. "In general I would remind people to report any suspicious activity."

"Although there is no immediate threat to our train station we will have increased Patrols in the area," Lieutenant Ben Smith from the Matawan Police Department told Patch.

There have been no reports of anything suspicious at the train station. The increased presence is in response to pipe bombs being found at an Elizabeth train station.

Commuters can expect extensive delays today, as a result of the events in Elizabeth. Multiple North Jersey Coast Line trains from Long Branch have been cancelled, and others are running with extensive delays.
