Did you know that Plantar Warts are more common in children and adolescents? A wart may appear as a bump with a rough surface or may be flat and smooth. Tiny blood vessels grow to the core of the wart. These blood vessels appear as dark dots (seeds) in the wart's center. Plantar warts can occur when the human papilloma virus (HPV) invades the body through the skin on the bottom of the feet typically through cuts or breaks. The virus often is present on contaminated surfaces, such as the tile floors of public locker rooms, showers, and swimming pools.
Now is the best time to have your children's feet screened for plantar warts. To make an appointment, visit our website at: www.centraljerseyankleandfoot.com or call us at: 732.566.2841. Our staff will be happy to assist you.
