Spring 2017 - The Jersey Shore Huskies Fast-Pitch Travel Softball season is underway and showing signs of early successes. The divisions in 10u, 12u and 14uw entered the annual Matawan High School Spring Softball Tournament (or the Paul Rutch Tournament) in late April. All three Huskies team came up 1st place in their respective division. It was a great weekend for Huskies softball.
June 3 - Last weekend the 14u-Steel team participated in the Blue Chip Showcase Tournament in Westhampton, NJ and played with determination and grit during bracket play on Sunday. The girls battled all day (as the lower seed) with tremendous pitching performance and timely hits. The Huskies made it to the finals against a very good Flames Futures team who quickly put up 7 runs. But the Huskies didn't waver and battled, but eventually losing 9-8. It was a hard-fought game on both sides and proved to be a very competitive and enjoyable.
June 10 - The Jersey Shore Huskies 12u and 14uw played in the USSSA June Hustle in Linden, NJ. Huskies fans were not disappointed. The 12u Huskies, under the leadership of coach Cristina, became the team to contend with during the stretch. The Huskies made it to the semi-final game, but eventually losing in the bottom of the inning. But these Huskies will not give up and watch out for them in the next tournament, they are hungry. The 14uw came to Sunday's bracket play confident and relax. The Huskies advanced the 1st round with a win over Frozen Ropes (7-0) and faced a strong CJ Force team in the quarterfinals. The Huskies were down by seven runs by the 4th inning and faced a uphill battle. At the top of the 5th inning, the Huskies started chipping away and took the lead for good as they advanced to the semi-final round with a score of 11-7. With all the confidence and momentum, the Huskies broke through the wall and advance to the final with a score of 11-3. They eventually lost against a very formidable opponent (Black Diamonds).
