Cliffwood Buy Rite Liquor Store Robbed, Police Say

Another liquor store in the Matawan-Aberdeen area has been hit by crime: The glass front door was smashed and $450 stolen March 29.

MATAWAN-ABERDEEN, NJ - Last week, we told you how an employee allegedly robbed the Rt. 34 Super Buy-Rite liquor store of $5,000 worth of lottery tickets. And now another liquor store in the area has been hit by crime: On Wednesday, March 29 someone broke into the Cliffwood Buy Rite liquor on Hwy. 35 and stole approximately $450 in cash, Aberdeen police announced. They broke into the store by breaking the glass front door.

  • On March 30 it was reported that sometime during the night someone entered a shed on Gordon St. and took three Yamaha motorcycles with a total approximate value of $6,000.
  • On March 23 building materials valued at almost $6,000 were reported taken from a construction site on Atlantic Ave. sometime between March 9 and March 23. P.O. John Young took the report
  • On March 29 a 55-year-old township man was charged with disorderly conduct following an incident at the Aberdeen train station on Atlantic Ave. Police were called there on a report of an intoxicated individual on the platform yelling and cursing at patrons. He became combative with officers, Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers said. Sgt. Michael Lasko was the arresting officer
  • On March 30 a 28-year-old Neptune man was charged with criminal mischief following a domestic incident at Ken Gardens apartments on Matawan Ave. There was damage to the apartment's walls and door. P.O. Mary Johnston was the arresting officer.
  • A 49-year-old Old Bridge man was charged with shoplifting at the Stop and Shop store on Hwy. 34. P.O. Matthew McDow made the arrest.
  • On April 3 a 21-year-old Matawan man was arrested for shoplifting from the Shop Rite store, Lloyd Rd., on March 16. Det. Louis Nanna was the arresting officer. P.O. Gus Grivas was the initial investigating officer.
  • On April 4 a 55-year-old township woman was arrested on a contempt warrant out of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. P.O. Bruce Monro was the arresting officer.
