Keyport Donald Trump Scarecrow Vandalized ... Again
A Donald Trump scarecrow submitted as part of the Keyport library's scarecrow contest was vandalized again overnight Thursday.

KEYPORT, NJ — It happened again. A Donald Trump scarecrow submitted as part of the Keyport library's annual Halloween scarecrow contest was vandalized again overnight on Thursday.
A resident driving past took this photo Friday morning. The head of the Trump scarecrow could be seen grotesquely hanging off its body. As Patch reported, this is the second time this week the scarecrow has been attacked: Someone tore the head off Tuesday night, too. Related: Donald Trump Scarecrow Vandalized At Keyport Library
Ed Carew, president of the library board, said he was out there Friday morning fixing it. The library does not have any cameras and the surveillance camera across Broad Street does not face the front of the library, he said. So it's impossible to know who did this.

Who built this scarecrow?

A Keyport resident who is a Donald Trump supporter submitted the scarecrow. Carew said she worked very hard on it and meant it as a positive, entertaining gesture. Carew said the library received three threatening phone calls over it, all of them demanding the scarecrow be taken down. He said he thinks the phone calls are from Trump supporters, who find the scarecrow disrespectful. Still, he said, the Friends of the Library have no intention of taking it down, saying it would stifle the creative nature of the contest. A George W. Bush scarecrow was submitted in previous years, he pointed out.

"If that one comes down, they all come down," he said. "The person who made this, a woman, is actually a Donald Trump supporter. She didn't mean anything offensive by it and it's very tasteful. It just looks like the president."
The winners of the library scarecrow contest will be announced this weekend at the annual Keyport Screamin’ Country Jamboree. Read more: Keyport's Annual Country Jamboree This Weekend, Oct. 7, 8
