Lake Lefferts Bridge On Old Bridge-Matawan Road Needs Emergency Repairs
The bridge on Old Bridge-Matawan Road (Rt. 516) over Lake Lefferts is closed for emergency repairs.
MATAWAN, NJ — The bridge on Old Bridge-Matawan Road (Rt. 516) over Lake Lefferts is closed for emergency repairs, Matawan and Aberdeen Twp. Police said.
Some structural problem happened to the bridge, police said.
That stretch of Old Bridge-Matawan Road between Lakeridge Drive and Miriam Drive is now closed to traffic through approximately May 25.

It will take a month, until at least May 25, to repair the bridge, said police. Also, that re-opening date can also change based on weather conditions. For questions, contact the Middlesex County Engineering Department at (732) 745-3994.
Matawan Police announced this on their Facebook page this week. Aberdeen Police announced it, as well.

"Due to unforeseen structural issues, Old Bridge-Matawan Road (CR516) between Lakeridge Drive and Miriam Drive will now be CLOSED to thru traffic for bridge repairs until approximately May 25, 2026 (weather permitting)," said the Matawan Police Department. "Please follow posted detour signs and consider using an alternate route."
