Laurence Harbor Fire Department invites community residents of all ages to its Sunday, Oct. 20 Open House. The event, from noon to 3 p.m., takes place at Laurence Harbor Fire Department House 1, 20 Laurence Parkway, in Laurence Harbor.
There will be firetruck and station tours, vehicle extrication and fire safety demonstrations, and a chance to meet Laurence Harbor volunteers and learn about volunteering. The Pink Heals firetruck will be there, and refreshments will be served.
“All of us at Laurence Harbor Fire Department look forward to seeing everyone and showing them some of the skills and equipment we use to keep the community safe,” said Fire Chief Brian Stitzel. “Along with the truck and station tours and demonstrations, we’ll offer fire safety tips for the whole family."

The Open House is also a great opportunity for anyone curious about volunteering to learn more about it. “We are a 100 percent volunteer fire department, and we need more volunteers to answer our community’s calls for help,” Stitzel said. “Volunteer firefighting is a rewarding and exciting way to make a difference right here where you live. And you don’t need experience to get started – training is free.”
Anyone who can’t make it to the open house can learn more about volunteering and fill out an inquiry form by visiting the fire department online at lhfd1.com .
