People Were Inside Old Bridge Condo Struck By Lightning
A condo in Old Bridge was struck by lightning Thursday afternoon.
OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A condo in Old Bridge was struck by lightning Thursday afternoon, and it was immediately engulfed in a three-alarm fire, said Old Bridge Twp. Police.
The two-story wooden condo on the 20 block of Homestead Drive was struck by lightning at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, as storms moved through the area.
People were inside the condo at the time it was hit, and they called 911, said Old Bridge Police Sgt. Richard Mustacchio.

Nobody inside the condo was injured. The residents got out while the condo burned.
The condo is located in Old Bridge, but has a Matawan mailing address.

Matawan Mayor Joe Altomonte said Matawan firefighters raced to the scene to provide mutual aid.
