Local Family Wins 40 Boxes of Samoas!

Bridget Wallin and her family recently won 40 boxes of Samoa Girl Scout cookies from the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.

Someone is celebrating the big 4-0 this year – and that’s popular Girl Scout cookie, the Samoa! To commemorate the Samoa’s 40th birthday, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore recently gave away 40 boxes of Samoas to Barnegat resident, Bridget Wallin and her family.

Bridget and her daughter, Junior Girl Scout Kiera plan to do a lot with their winnings.

“We have a pen pal in the Peace Corps who we know would love some boxes of Samoas,” said Bridget. “We also plan to send some of the boxes to soldiers overseas.”

The 40 Boxes of Samoas Giveaway was held as a Facebook contest where almost 550 Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Facebook fans shared the post and tagged friends with whom they’d split their winning boxes.

“It’s so cool that we won 40 boxes of Samoas,” said Girl Scout Kiera. “It will be fun to share them with others. Maybe my mom will also let me eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner!”

We’re not sure about that, Kiera, but we do know that Samoas are delicious. The tender vanilla cookies, covered with caramel, rolled in toasted coconut, and striped with a rich, chocolaty coating have been a fan favorite for years.

Girl Scouts throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties are currently selling Samoas and seven other tasty varieties of Girl Scout cookies. For more information on the Girl Scout Cookie Sale, visit www.girlscoutsjs.org/cookies.
