Make a Pit Stop at Parkway Deli for a Grand Opening Celebration

The deli will host a grand opening celebration Saturday, Oct. 22

For twenty five years, Harry Zober, of Matawan, worked in the restaurant business and dreamed of one day owning his own food establishment.

As of September, that dream has become a reality for Zober and his business associate, Stu Berg.

"I've always wanted my own place and an opportunity arose, so here I am," Zober said.

The two opened in Town Square on Matawan Road, near the entrance to the Garden State Parkway at exit 120.

Although the food joint touts itself as a deli, it's more of a combination of a deli, a coffee bistro and a restaurant. Parkway Deli serves breakfast throughout the day, your typical deli lunch, and various hot entrees in addition to the coffee bar. There is also a large seating area, with room for sixty people, with free internet access.

Zober believes that the key to a great deli, aside from great food, is a unique identity.

"It has to be different. Parkway Deli is a nice place for people to come sit down and relax, check their email," he said.

Saturday, Oct. 21 Zober and Berg will host a Grand Opening at the Parkway Deli to celebrate their accomplishment.

From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., patrons will enjoy free food samples, face painting, cotton candy balloons and a fire truck. Zober has been a volunteer firefighter for the past sixteen years.

There will also be a ribbon cutting at noon with Mayor Paul Buccellato and Assemblyman Samuel Thompson.

When asked to pick his favorite item off of the menu, Zober couldn't quite put a finger on it.

"It's hard a hard choice," he said. "Everything is made fresh and we have different hot specials every day."
