Man Charged with DUI in Cliffwood Beach After Hitting Parked Car

He struck a parked car on Sherwood Drive and fled the scene, police said.

A Middlesex man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated Friday night in the Cliffwood Beach section of town, Aberdeen police announced Monday.

Francisco C. DeOliveira, 39, of Princeton Drive in Middlesex, drove his 2000 Nissan Pathfinder on Sherwood Drive Friday evening when he struck a parked car and fled the scene, Aberdeen Chief of Police John Powers said.

A witness saw the crash, and gave Aberdeen police officer Jessica McDougall a description of the vehicle. She stopped the Nissan on West Concourse, where DeOliveira was taken into custody at about 6:20 p.m.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, failure to report a crash and refusal to submit to a breath test. He was released pending a municipal court appearance.
