No Indecent Exposure At Aberdeen Spray Park

ABERDEEN, NJ — An incident of alleged exposure at Aberdeen spray park is unfounded, Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers said in an update on Tuesday.

"Our detectives reviewed the surveillance video from Veterans Memorial Park and were able to observe the subject in the spray park," said Chief Powers. "The video does not show the individual engaging in any lewd conduct, nor does he appear to be removing any articles of clothing."

A woman reported that a man may have exposed himself in the spray park at Veteran's Memorial Park Sunday. But a man who was also there wrote on Facebook that the incident was clearly unintentional and his swim trunks just fell down as he was rinsing sand from his suit.

The Aberdeen spray park is extremely popular, and just opened last June.

"Our officers responded to a report of a suspicious male at Veteran’s Memorial Park yesterday (Sunday) at approximately 3:20 p.m.," said Aberdeen police Chief John Powers. "Upon the officers’ arrival, the caller reported that the male was in the spray ground and had no children with him."

At one point the man allowed his swim suit to fall to the point that his buttocks were exposed, the police chief said.

"As we are looking further into this, it seems the exposure may have been unintentional based on witness accounts," Chief Powers said.

The man then walked toward the beach. Responding officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the man. He is described as a Hispanic man wearing a white shirt and green shorts or swim trunks.
