Man Hit By Car On Rt. 9 In Old Bridge

A 69-year-old Old Bridge man was hit by a car just before 5 p.m. Thursday, while attempting to cross Rt. 9, said police.

OLD BRIDGE, NJ — A 69-year-old Old Bridge man was hit by a car while attempting to cross Rt. 9 southbound late Thursday afternoon.

He survived, but is currently hospitalized with a broken leg.

Old Bridge Police say the man was struck at 4:56 p.m. as he ran across Rt. 9 south without using a designated crosswalk.

A grey BMW traveling south in the left lane swerved to avoid him, but was unable to, said police. The driver stopped to report the accident.

The pedestrian appeared to have a broken left leg.

EMS and medics arrived on scene, treated and transported the man to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment. The driver of the BMW is from Marlboro. No charges have been filed.
