At 7:17 a.m., Patrolman Ross Dessel responded to Monmouth Road (Route 537) for a reported motor vehicle crash. The driver of the vehicle, Juan Estrella Jr, 38, of Jackson, was charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI). He was was transported to Manalapan Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and later released to his wife. He has a pending a court date.

At 3:37 p.m., Patrolman Philip Accatatta was sent to an Overlook Way home to investigate a reported theft. The victim, a 79-year-old Manalapan woman told police that between Feb. 25 and March 1, someone removed a diamond ring and gold necklace valued at $3,400 from a jewelry box. There was no sign of forced entry. The case is under investigation.

Around 3:20 p.m., Patrolman Philip Accatatta was sent to a Greenleaf Drive home to investigate a reported fraud. The victim, a 67-year-old Manalapan man told the officer he opened an e-mail from a friend which subsequently caused his computer to crash. An alert was displayed on his screen to contact Square Techno Inc. to have his computer fixed. The victim called and an unidentified male requested credit card information to receive payment of $299.99 to fix his computer. The victim provided the information and later determined it was a scam and cancelled payment. All residents are advised to be on the alert for scams and contact the Manalapan Township Police Department if they are in need of any assistance.
March 4
Around 1 p.m. Patrolman John Lightbody pulled over a Nissan on Gordon’s Corner Road for a motor vehicle violation. The passenger, Juliet Wilsey, 20, of Manalapan, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needles, and possession of prescription pills and failing to have the pills in a prescription bottle. Wilsey was transported to headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.
Around 3:35 a.m. Patrolman Jason Vigneault was sent to the NJ Transit bus terminal on Rt. 9 north after police received a report of vandalism. Upon arrival, it was found that several glass/plexiglass windows along one section of the weather covering had been broken sometime during the overnight hours. The area was marked off with “CAUTION” tape until it could be cleaned up. Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call police.
