Newcomer Wins Matawan-Aberdeen School Board Seat: Unofficial Results

Sheetal Desai Werneke and running mate Danielle Spruell, seeking an unexpired seat, are winners, according to the unofficial results.

ABERDEEN, NJ — A newcomer appears to be the top vote-getter for two seats on the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional Board of Education, according to unofficial election results.

Sheetal Desai Werneke, running under the "Parents Who Lead" slogan, had 2,636 votes, according to unofficial tallies from the Monmouth County Board of Elections.

Werneke and incumbent Tara Martinez, running on the Always Kids First slogan, had received 2,520 votes according to unofficial tallies. Incumbent Kizzie W. Osborne had 1,898.

In the race for a one-year unexpired term, Danielle Spruell, who was running with Werneke, had 2,708 votes to 1,876 for Shelley Gershner, according to the unofficial tallies.

In Matawan, Annette Ascoli, who currently serves as president of the board, was unopposed for re-election to the seat. She received 1,670 votes, and there were 75 write-in votes.
