Matawan Historical Society hosts book signing at 2015 Aberdeen Day
Local organization showcases newest local history by author Helen Henderson at 2015 Aberdeen Day

The Matawan Historical Society will host a pre-release event for the latest history by local author, Helen Henderson as part of the 2015 Aberdeen Day activities. A limited number of copies of From the Back Street to Main Street… And Beyond will be available at the Society’s booth at the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional High School from 1 to 3 PM, September 26, 2015.
Thirty years in the making, From the Back Street to Main Street… And Beyond chronicles the Methodist Community of Middletown Point from the time they were forced to build on the back street of the town to the congregation of today. Through the use of handwritten records and photographs, this book presents a history of the Matawan United Methodist Church in Aberdeen (Monmouth County,) New Jersey. Traditions of the congregation are interpreted in the light of lifestyles and culture of the times. The official release of From the Back Street to Main Street in ebook and paperback formats is scheduled for November 15, 2015.

About the Matawan Historical Society: Established in 1969, the Matawan Historical Society is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of and education about the history of Matawan Borough and Aberdeen Township. The Society meets the fourth Monday of the month from September to June at 7:30 pm. It operates the Burrowes Mansion Museum, a local history museum located at 94 Main Street, Matawan. Tours are available on the first and third Sundays of the month from 2pm to 4 pm.
About Helen Henderson: A published author, feature-story writer and correspondent, Henderson is a past-president of the Matawan Historical Society and is the former director of the Burrowes Mansion Museum. She is the author of Around Matawan and Aberdeen and Of Town and Field: Matawan and Aberdeen.
