Matawan Leaf Collection Schedule Revised

The Matawan Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin picking up leaves in Area 4 Monday, Oct 31, which is one week later than originally planned.

The Borough Council stated at their regular action meeting that the collection was delayed due to unusually warm weather this time of year.

Area 4 includes Ravine Dr., Middlesex Rd., Rustic Ln., Aberdeen Rd. and Marc Woods.

Residents are allowed to begin placing leaves behind the curb one week prior to their designated pick up date. On the designated date, the DPW will come through the area twice. Any leaves not picked up on the second pass can be placed in biodegradable paper bags. Residents may pick up a maximum of 10 bags at the Community Center, or call 732-290-2015 for a delivery. DPW personnel will remove the filled bags as soon as possible, according to the borough's website.

The bags help alleviate storm drain clogging and slippery road and sidewalk conditions. Bags should be placed between the curb and the sidewalk, so as not to block vehicle or pedestrian traffic. They should also be more than ten feet away from fire hydrants and storm drains for safety reasons, and should only be filled with leaves.
