Matawan Resident, Retired MARSD Employee Dies at 83

Giuseppe Vaccarella, 83, of Matawan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel. Born in San Lupo, Italy to the late Pasquale and Agnese Vaccarella, Giuseppe has resided in Matawan for the past 47 years. He worked as a machine operator for American Smelting and Refining in Perth Amboy for 10 years before moving on to work for the Matawan Regional School District for 18 years, retiring in 1996. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed carpentry, but most importantly, spending time with his family. 

He is predeceased by his parents and sister Teresa Tomasiello. He leaves behind to carry on his legacy, his beloved wife of 58 years, Maria Vaccarella; children Agnes Scheurich and husband Ray Jimenez of Matawan, Pasquale Vaccarella and wife Mona of Colts Neck, Sandra Sonnenfeld and husband Gregg of Aberdeen and Joseph Vaccarella and wife Natalie of Aberdeen; grandchildren Jennifer and husband Michael Sr., Julian, Nicole, Marisa, Joseph, Nicholas and a girl on the way; great grandson Michael Jr. and sister Mary DeNardo. 

Funeral services were handled by Waitt Funeral Home.
