Matawan Waives Late Fees for Registering Pets
The Council passed a resolution offering amnesty to unregistered pets

If your pet is older than seven months and has not been registered yet, you might be dreading paying a late fee on top of the licensing fee.
In an effort to encourage pet owners to register their pets, the Matawan Borough Council passed a resolution at the meeting Thursday night to suspend the ten dollar licensing late fee.
Resolution 11-07-16 will remain in effect until September 15, 2011.

To register a cat or dog who is spayed or neutered, a license costs $11.20. For a dog or cat who has not been spayed or neutered, it costs $14.20. A late fee is $10.
New Jersey state law requires that all dogs seven months or older be licensed with the licensing clerk of the municipality. To obtain a license, the pet owner must show proof that the animal has been vaccinated against rabies.
