Matawan Woman And Her Mother Arrested In Sayreville Heroin Bust

A 28-year-old Matawan woman and her 64-year-old mother were part of four arrested in a heroin and crack cocaine bust at a Sayreville motel.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — A 28-year-old Matawan woman and her 64-year-old mother were part of four arrested in a heroin and crack cocaine bust at a Sayreville motel on Friday, police said.

Sayreville police say they started the investigation into the Gallery Motel after receiving reports of drugs being sold and used at the motel on Rt. 35 north in Sayreville. Police said they observed multiple incidents of drug sales and individuals using drugs in the parking lot of the motel. In total, four people were arrested and they are: Jason Fowler, 34, of Crespo, PA, Shannon Starosciak, 25, of Iselin, Caci Byrd, 28, of Matawan and her mother, Maureen O’Keefe-Byrd, 64, of Matawan.

Fowler was charged with manufacturing cocaine and crack cocaine, possession of heroin, distribution of heroin and possession of marijuana. Police said they also found a total of $1,8000 cash on him.

Starosciak was charged with possession of heroin, distribution of heroin, possession of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute heroin and released on her own recognizance. Caci Byrd along with her mother, Maureen, were both charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and the use of crack cocaine. Both were released on their own recognizance.
