McLOONE'S TO HOST PREVENTION COALITION OF MONMOUTH COUNTY FUNDRAISER

On Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 6:00-9:00pm, The Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County (PCMC), an affiliate of Prevention First, will hold their “Look, See,Check ID” fundraiser at McLoone’s Supper Club, Asbury Park. Attendees will learn about the Coalition’s 100% Proofing Campaign, an intervention to deter underage drinking in Monmouth County. Eighteen businesses in Monmouth County have signed up as participants in the program that requires the businesses to proof all patrons whether they are 21 or 101.
The Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County (PCMC) is a forum for community members and organizations with the express purpose of working together to reduce substance abuse in Monmouth County to ensure healthy, safe and drug-free lives. PCMC is charged with developing an annual plan to reduce substance abuse through sustainable prevention programs and strategies, increasing public awareness related to substance abuse trends and community resources and effecting community-level change through policy advocacy efforts.
Through the Regional Prevention Coalition Grant, the PCMC focuses on (1) Reducing underage drinking; (2) reducing the use of illegal substances, especially opiate use among young adults ages 18-25; (3) Reduce prescription medication misuse across the lifespan; (4) Reducing the useof new and emerging drugs across the lifespan; and (5) Reducing tobacco and marijuana use.
During the evening’s planned festivities, Sgt Gregory Washington, a Neptune Township Police officer, will be recognized for bringing on board nine businesses in Neptune, and Chef Wendy Escobedo, General Manager/Instructor at Interfaith Neighbor’s Kula Café, Asbury Park, for her demonstrated passion for training youth one-on-one with transferrable skills in hospitality.
