Michael Mullaney, Owner of Mullaney & Associates Physical Therapy Honored by Leading Orthopaedic Journal for Research Paper

Michael J. Mullaney, DPT, co-owner of Mullaney & Associates Physical Therapy in Matawan and a Research Consultant for the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine & Athletic Trauma in New York, was a co-author of a research paper that received the 2017 William A. Grana Award for Best Original Research.

The paper, “Functional Outcomes After Double-Row Versus Single-Row Rotator Cuff Repair: A Prospective Randomized Trial,” appeared in the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine. The award was given to the most outstanding research paper to appear in the publication during 2016. Along with Mullaney, the paper was co-authored by Stephen J. Nicholas, MD; Steven J. Lee, MD; Timothy F. Tyler, PT, ATC; Takumi Fukunaga, PT, ATC; Christopher D. Johnson, PT; and Malachy P. McHugh, PhD.

The award will be presented at the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine’s Annual Meeting in Toronto, Ontario on July 20, 2017.
