More Details on Aberdeen Softball Coach Charged With Child Porn

The criminal complaint against an Aberdeen girls' softball coach and college professor for suspected child porn has been made public.

Aberdeen, NJ - The official criminal complaint against a former Aberdeen girls' softball coach and college professor arrested last week for suspected child porn has been made public.

Robert Berardo, 56, was arrested after officers with the Monmouth County prosecutor's office raided his Edgeview Road home last Thursday, Sept. 1 in Keyport. Earlier that day, police said Berardo streamed images of child porn from his home computer. During the raid, law enforcement officials said they found numerous suspected child pornography images on devices in his home. He was also charged with knowingly distributing an image of child pornography over the Internet on June 2.

Berardo was held on a $100,000 bail, no 10% option. Monmouth County judge Michael Pugliese set strict conditions of his bail: No unsupervised contact with children under the age of 18 and no use of the Internet.

At the time of his arrest, Berardo was employed as an adjunct professor at Middlesex County College and Raritan Valley College. He is a former adjunct professor at Monmouth University. Berardo also coached teams in the Aberdeen/Matawan Recreation girls' softball league from 2001 – 2008, and coached the Aberdeen/Matawan Recreation travel girls' softball team from 2008-2009.
