NEARLY 350 JOB SEEKERS AND OVER 40 BUSINESSES TAKE PART IN ABERDEEN ECONOMIC BUSINESS COUNCIL JOB FAIR

For the fourth year in a row, the Aberdeen EBC Job Fair proved a big success for job hunters and employers.

For the fourth year in a row, the Aberdeen Economic Business Council’s (EBC) Annual Job Fair proved a big success for job hunters and employers, attracting approximately 350 job seekers and 40 employers.

The event, held at Matawan Regional High School, featured private and public sector employers from Aberdeen and towns throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. A wide range of full- and part-time positions were available in areas such as amusement parks, clerical, construction/remodeling, customer service, data entry, financial advisory, food service, homecare, human services, insurance, information technology, law enforcement, lifeguarding, marketing, national security, nursing, pest control, pool management, purchasing, real estate, retail, teaching assistants, and transportation.

Employers with Aberdeen operations taking part included Hometown Residential Realty, Quality 1st Basement Systems, RPM Development, Saker Shop-Rite, The School for Advanced Learning, and Wawa.

Indicative of the event’s success, an exit poll of the employers found that 86% expected to hire candidates that applied for positions that evening, with 60% saying they are “likely” to hire and 26% “very likely.” Additionally, 87% of the employers felt the turnout of job-seekers was acceptable and 96% expect to attend next year’s event, with 63% “very likely” to attend. Moreover, 97% expressed positive views of the event’s physical accommodations in the High School’s cafeteria and adjoining hallways. A number of respondents separately commented that the event was “very well organized” and that job fair staff was “helpful and accommodating.”

For the third year in a row, students from the High School’s Business Academy assisted in planning and implementing the event, including marketing, setting up, escorting exhibitors to their locations, and handing out guidebooks to job seekers. “Once again, the students provided invaluable assistance in so many ways,” said EBC Chairman Carmine Visone, who worked with the students throughout the school year teaching them the necessary skills to assist in planning and implementing the job fair. “Their help, support and professionalism just polishes this event to be among the best job fairs in the county. We thank Business Academy teacher Dan Bernstein for facilitating the students’ participation.”

“I would like to congratulate EBC Chairman Carmine Visone, Planning/Zoning Board Secretary and Business Liaison Maxine Rescorl, EBC member Bill Parness, and the students for creating another successful job fair,” said Mayor Fred Tagliarini on behalf of the Aberdeen Township Council, which supports the event. “I spoke with a number of vendors who expressed how pleased they were with the comfortable venue and the number of qualified applicants they met.”
