Novae Hosts Red Carpet Premier in Aberdeen

Premiering their music video Broken Days

If you’re interested in the local music scene, then you may want to check out Aberdeen’s newest up-and-coming band, Novae.

On Friday, Sept. 16, Novae released its latest music video featuring the song Broken Days at their Red Carpet Premier party, hosted by the Upper Deck Club, located above Sports Zone on Rt. 34.

Filling the club with family, friends and local residents, Novae mingled with the audience and enjoyed the completion of their latest musical venture.

Novae includes two founders, lead guitarist and songwriter Mark Scandariato and lead singer, songwriter and keyboardist Rich Genoval, along with bassist Jim Arra and drummer Kevin Hill.

Genoval came up with the name Novae when he received a spelling error of his last name on a piece of mail one day.

Currently, Novae is produced by Anthony J. Resta, who has also produced such names as Elton John, Duran Duran and Collective Soul. Scandariato has also been involved in the music business in the past, having toured with Bob Dylan, Hootie & the Blowfish, Kenny Aronoff and many others.

Cat Consentino starred in the music video as a young woman who loses the man she loves, seen tearing pictures and sketches of him off of her bedroom wall while wearing an engagement ring. As the video progressed, Consentino’s character gradually returns to her art and begins to paint her lost love walking in the woods, or a symbolic heaven.

According to Novae, “The film and song reflects upon the struggle of balancing one’s personal passions with everyday life, love and finding the strength to move forward.”

Broken Days was written by Genoval, inspired by working a 9 to 5 job while his passions remained for music and the creative life. The video was directed by local Manalapan resident Jenna Bush, who has previously been featured in the Garden State Film Festival.

The video premier was followed by a live and energetic performance from the band. If you missed this video premier, you still have a chance to see Novae perform live at the Sports Zone on Rt. 34. For a complete list of venues, be sure to visit the band's website
