Old Bridge Man Bites Someone On NJ Transit Train, Police Say

An Old Bridge Township man is charged with biting a 21-year-old victim while stealing his cell phone Tuesday aboard NJ Transit.

PARLIN, NJ — An Old Bridge Township man is charged with biting a 21-year-old victim in a scuffle Tuesday over the victim's cell phone, which police say the man was trying to steal.

The incident happened aboard an NJ Transit train just before 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, Port Authority cops said. The victim, a 21-year-old East Orange man, said he was on the NJ Transit train on the Northeast Corridor line south of Newark when Sean Pritchard stole his cell phone and charger.

The victim said he struggled with Pritchard for his phone, and Pritchard bit him on the right hand in the struggle, police said.

His hand bleeding and his phone gone, the victim got off the train at the Newark airport stop and called 911. The suspect stayed on.

Port Authority police responded and the victim gave them the suspect's description. The Port Authority stopped the train, telling conductors to keep the doors closed, boarded and say they found the man that matched that description. They also found the victim's cell phone and charger on him, they said.

Pritchard, 41, a Parlin resident, was arrested and charged with robbery.

The victim was taken to Trinitas Hospital and later released.
