Police: Dead Puppy Found Near Edge Of Pond In Monmouth County
Police are trying to find the owner of the puppy and determine the circumstances surrounding the dog's death.

A dead puppy was found near the edge of a pond at a Laurel Avenue condominium complex in Holmdel, police said.
Police said they are trying to determine who owned the dog, which appeared to be a pit bull, and the circumstances surrounding the death of the puppy, which was about 6-months-old.
Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a resident called police to report finding a dead dog at the edge of a pond behind the clubhouse at the Beau Ridge Condominium Complex, according to a news release from Sgt. Vincent Imperato.

The puppy showed signs of slight decomposition, which leads police to believe the dog may have been in the pond for about two months, the news release said.
The Monmouth County SPCA Police responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Anyone with any information about the case or the identity of the dog’s owner is asked to contact the Holmdel Police Department.
