Police: Matawan Woman Spits On Hazlet Cop's Face, Busted On Heroin Charges

In July, when Shana Rongo was a Middletown resident, she was charged in Holmdel with having "glassine baggies" containing heroin.

A 23-year-old Matawan resident was busted on aggravated assault and heroin charges Friday after she spit on a Hazlet police officer’s face, police said.

Shana Rongo was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance after she was found with 11 wax paper folds containing heroin, police said.

Rongo then committed aggravated assault when she spit at the officer, and the saliva landed in the officer’s face, police said.

Rongo has run into trouble before, police said. In July, when she was identified as a Middletown resident, she was charged in Holmdel with having “glassine baggies” containing heroin, according to Monmouth County Courthouse records.

The baggies were imprinted with the words “Nasty Life.”

Rongo was arrested Friday on $7,500 bail. She’s scheduled to appear in court at 12:30 pm. on Nov. 24.
