Police: Officer In Monmouth County Stopped To Help With Disabled Vehicle, Found Stolen Goods
A police officer stopped to help with a disabled vehicle, but soon realized the occupants had $5,000 worth of stolen goods, police said.

Two Brooklyn, New York residents broke down on Holmdel Road, and when a police officer stopped to help, he realized the pair had some $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise, authorities said.
Keniesha Blackford, 28, of Marion Street, and Rickardo Cherubin, 26, of East 36th Street, were both charged with receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana.
Around 5:10 p.m. April 9, Patrolman Jon Martin stopped to assist with a disabled vehicle that was impeding traffic on Holmdel Road, near Hillcrest Road, according a news release from Lt. Michael Smith.

Martin checked the license plate and realized that the registration had been suspended, police said.
After further investigation, the officer realized the pair had merchandise that had been stolen from Home Depot stores in West Long Branch, Hazlet, Old Bridge, Edison, and Staten Island, according to Smith.

Both defendants were sent to the Monmouth County jail in Freehold Township, with bail set at $25,000 each.
