Primary Election In Matawan/Aberdeen: When, Where To Vote
The New Jersey Primary Election is on June 6. Here's where and how to cast your ballot:
ABERDEEN, NJ — Primary Election day in New Jersey is June 6.
There are no contested primaries in either Matawan or Aberdeen this year, for mayor or town council.

But on Nov. 7, there will be a general election for four of the six Aberdeen Township Council seats.
The four sitting Democrats in the seats will run for re-election: Greg Cannon, Arthur Hirsch, Robert Swindle and Connie Kelley.

They will be challenged by four Aberdeen residents who are Republican: Susan McGowan, Michael Olesen, Carl Zanchelli and Michael Vail.
Coming up in November for Matawan:
In Matawan, current Mayor Joseph Altomonte filed his petition to seek re-election, along with Council President Deana Gunn and newcomer Arlan Feiles. All three are Democrats.
They will be challenged by a Republican slate: Charlie Ross is running for mayor and Anissa Esposito and Joe Saggese are running for Council.
How to vote in the primary:
Residents have multiple options for casting their ballots in the June 2023 primary. They include mailing ballots through the United States Postal Service; dropping a ballot in any secure drop box across the County; three days of in-person early voting at any early vote locations in the County; or voting in person on Primary Election Day, June 6.
Unaffiliated registered voters may choose to vote in either the Democratic Primary Election or the Republican Primary Election. If voting in person, either early or on Primary Election Day, an unaffiliated voter will declare their party affiliation at the polls before voting in the Primary Election.

Voters can choose one of the following options to return their Mail-In ballot:
- Mail the ballot through the United States Postal Service. Mail-In Ballots must be postmarked on or before 8 pm on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, June 6.
- Drop the ballot in a designated drop box by 8 pm on June 6.
There is a drop box outside Aberdeen town hall.
EARLY IN-PERSON VOTING
In-person early voting will open Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4. Hours will be Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Vote-By-Mail Ballots cannot be returned to in-person early voting polling locations or Primary Election Day polling locations.

Polls in New Jersey will be open from 6 am to 8 pm on Primary Election Day.
